Dr. Candace Kuby & Dr. Angie Zapata advocate for early childhood educators as they advocate for their students. Through their partnership with the Show Me Literacies Collective, Zapata & Kuby support 17-20 early childhood settings across the state of Missouri. In their work, they celebrate the existing expertise of the teachers that they work with, creating space for early literacy teachers to collaborate and challenging the popular narrative of early-childhood-expert-as-babysitter. In this Teacher Chat, Kuby & Zapata sat down with Everyday Advocacy's Sarah Hochstetler about how they apply the principles of everyday advocacy to their work with early childhood literacy education in the state of Missouri.
"Valuing humanizing interactions has been a commitment of ours from the start." - Dr. Angie Zapata
